This is the Porta Nigra in Trier, the oldest standing Roman city gate north of the Alps. It was built in around 200 AD! My brain can’t even wrap itself around that old of a date. I remember standing here, squinting, trying to imagine it back then, without all this modern stuff surrounding it (how annoying are those bleachers?!). I love seeing Europe. You sure can’t see crap this old in America.
